1909-25 BIRTH & CHILDHOOD
Born in Cropos, Lithuania on March 4, 1909. Two years later,
her parents go to America. She is raised by her grandmother
by whom she is taught the ways of natural healing. She
survives many near-death episodes during World War I. Her
grandmother prophesies to her that Ann has a mission in
America to help suffering humanity. She works on a farm to
raise money to come to America.
1925-60 MOVE TO AMERICA,
MARRIAGE & MOTHERHOOD
In 1925 at age 16, Ann Wigmore comes to America to join her
family in Middleboro, Massachusetts. It is a difficult period
of her life. She works hard and almost loses her legs in an
accident. She runs away from home three times. In 1930 she
marries and later gives birth to a daughter. Her marriage
ends in 1955. Little by little, the vision of her mission
takes form, but her health is very poor. She remembers what
she learned from her grandmother and gradually rebuilds her
health. She uses weeds and invents wheatgrass juicing as her healing garden for:- natural healing gangrene and cancer with alternative medicine.
1960-94 CREATION & DEVELOPMENT OF THE
LIVING FOODS LIFESTYLE
For 35 years Ann Wigmore mobilizes all her energy to build a
healthier world promoting natural healing. She opens the Hippocrates Health Institute (The Original Alternative Medicine Schools)
in Boston in 1963 and the Ann Wigmore Foundation in Boston in
1985. She has a brilliant career lecturing, writing, and
giving wheatgrass and natural healing demonstrations in over 35 countries. She dies
accidentally due to smoke inhalation at the Ann Wigmore
Foundation in Boston on February 16, 1994. Leaving a legacy for the Health Retreats model.
